Workers Compensation Exercise Physiology
If you've been injured at work in WA, Rebound Health's Success clinic provides Exercise Physiology treatment recognised under the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023 and regulated by WorkCover WA. Our focus is straightforward: help you recover safely, and support a return to work that's realistic for your injury and your job.
How Workers Compensation Exercise Physiology Works in WA
Exercise Physiologists are a recognised allied health provider group under WorkCover WA, alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists. Here's how the process generally works:
Report your injury to your employer and lodge a claim with your employer's workers compensation insurer (or the Insurance Commission of WA, if your employer is government-insured).
See your nominated treating doctor. Most allied health treatment — including Exercise Physiology — needs a referral from the doctor managing your claim.
Your claim is assessed. If a decision hasn't been made within 28 days, you may be eligible for provisional payments for medical and health expenses while you wait.
We deliver treatment in line with the Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services — the evidence-based standard WorkCover WA expects all treating providers to follow, with a clear focus on safe, sustainable return to work.
We invoice in line with WorkCover WA's fee schedule. Treatment costs are billed according to the current Workers Compensation (Medical Services) Fees Order, so there are no surprises for you or your employer's insurer.
What We Focus On
Functional capacity, not just symptoms. We assess what you can do now, and build toward what you need to do for your job.
Realistic, staged return-to-work goals. Programs are built around your actual pre-injury duties, not a generic template.
Clear communication with your treatment team. We liaise with your nominated treating doctor, and your employer or rehabilitation provider where relevant, to keep your claim moving.
A real gym environment. Sessions run from our Success clinic inside Goodlife Health Club, giving you access to proper equipment for strength and conditioning-based rehab, not just a treatment table.
Who This Is For
Workers with an accepted or provisionally-accepted WorkCover WA claim
Workers whose nominated treating doctor has recommended exercise-based rehabilitation
Employers and rehabilitation providers coordinating a return-to-work plan for an injured staff member in the Success, Cockburn, or wider Perth southern suburbs area
Do I need a referral to start Exercise Physiology under WorkCover WA?
In most cases, yes — your nominated treating doctor needs to refer you before treatment can begin and be paid for by the insurer.
What if my claim hasn't been decided yet?
You may be entitled to provisional payments for medical and health expenses if a decision hasn't been made within 28 days of your claim being lodged. Speak with your claims officer about your eligibility.
Will I be out of pocket?
We bill in line with WorkCover WA's current medical services fees order. If a provider charges above the set rate, the difference (the "gap") may become the worker's responsibility — we'll always be upfront with you about costs before you start.
Do you work with my employer's insurer directly?
Yes. We communicate with your nominated treating doctor, your claims officer, and your employer or rehabilitation provider where appropriate, in line with WorkCover WA's Clinical Framework.
What if my employer is government-insured?
Some WA government employers are insured through the Insurance Commission of Western Australia (ICWA) rather than a private insurer — the treatment and referral process works the same way.
